How Should I Start This?

I am a 19 year old sailor in the United States Navy. There is a silver lining to every cloud. Herpes kicked me in the ass to have integrity, honesty, and strength. It’s showed me there are a lot more things to love about a woman than just how she is in the bedroom. It’s made me slow down and not ruin relationships with sex. It’s made me go away from getting what I wanted by having sex with a girl, and actually invest time into listening to her. I'm a better judge in character now.

Just remember, if you are worried about the talk, you aren't remembered how you lived your life. You are remembered how you affected someone else's. Good, the bad, the ugly.

Dear Josh,

Your story reminds me so much of myself. I was at that stage of my life too where I was rushing into things and not taking the time to get to know the other person. Being diagnosed with herpes changed all that... herpes pushed me into becoming a better man.

But more than anything, herpes has taught me a great lesson and those were to value other people and be more honest with them. Like you, I take things slow in a relationship and continue to have hope for the future.

Thank you for sending in your story. Your positivity is inspiring and refreshing.

God bless.

Gary
