How can I have a healthy relationship?

I have been recently diagnosed with genital herpes. My partner had the beginnings of a cold sore on his mouth that we didn't notice when he preformed oral sex on me. A few days later I experienced very painful burning and noticed some sores on my genital area. My GP diagnosed me with herpes and I started on anti viral medication.

I have not been able to stop crying since. I feel like I can not see a way out of this. I am very lucky that I have such a supportive partner, he is devastated that he is the source.

We have not been able to be intimate with each other since. I get really scared and upset, I fear I will pass it onto him, even though he insists our relationship is more important. We were planning on getting married soon and starting a family. I just can't see how that's possible now. How can we be intimate with each other without threatening his health too?

I have read some of the stories on this website, and I see people can live well with it, but I can't imagine that personally.

All advice is welcome please.
