Looking for Information About Being Actively Supportive of Someone Who Has Herpes

I started dating someone. And last night I was informed of their situation. I really enjoy this person so I've started doing some research to try and be as supportive as possible. Are there any forum sites that can help me with this journey? I've read the page that you posted there. It's been informative but I am looking for more.

Dear Anonymous,

I would like to thank you first of all for the wonderful and kind way you handled this “revelation” from your partner. People like you give us hope in overcoming the struggle to emotionally deal with this virus. Dating is difficult to begin with and having herpes makes it even more difficult. If everyone was like you, the world would be a much better place.

The fact that you want to know and learn more about herpes is a huge thing as this shows you really do care enough to do your research and make an informed decision. You might also be considering the situation and looking to give this person a chance.

A great forum where I frequent is www.herpes-coldsores.com. There are lots of great members there who share their experiences and advice, especially to enlighten non-herpes positive people.

I recommend getting The Good News about the Bad News, my favorite book on living with herpes. It’s an easy read and will help you further understand the virus from a perspective.

You sound absolutely lovely about this and I’m sure your partner is lucky to have you by their side. I’m positive that your support means so much to them at this time.

Hope this helps!

Gary
